I started at the Cumberland County Public Defender's Office in 1995, and I worked on cases from simple traffic infractions to high level felony cases. In 1998, I worked at the Rogers Firm as an associate where I worked my way to Partner. I dealt with a myriad of matters including family law, criminal law, personal injury law and estate law. In 2004, I started my own Law Firm, and I currently practice family law such as divorce, custody, alimony, property division and child support. I am knowledgeable with how military law applies in family court cases, which is an absolute must for our community. I handle both District and Superior court criminal cases. I have done jury trials in both criminal and civil courts. I also take pro bono cases from Legal Aid of North Carolina and court-appointed cases from the Cumberland County Public Defender's Office as my contribution to our legal community. With almost 27 years of legal experience under my belt, good relations with court house staff and familiarity in the courtroom, I will bring a balanced well-rounded history to the bench.
I went to Seventy First Elementary, Lewis Chapel Middle School and Seventy First High School. I graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill with a degree in Journalism. I received my Juris Doctorate from NCCU School of Law.` I am certified in collaborative law.
